Clank was my introduction to deck-building games, a personal favorite board game type, and a board game I bought immediately after our first time playing at an Airbnb in Wilmington, NC. Our copy has seen a fair amount of use, so we purchased card protectors to make the game last longer. I always enjoy introducing this game because so many people never have played a deck-builder. The rules are fairly simple to understand and you don't have to spend hours researching or rushing through the rule book (it's mainly just order of operations). Plus it's in a fantasy setting, so I get the added benefit of doing a dungeon crawl.

Each player assumes the personality of a thief whose goal is to find an artifact in the dungeon and make it out of the castle without dying (and there are many ways). As the name indicates, you should be as quiet as possible. If you make too much "Clank" then you may stir awake the dragon and she is not happy. You collect loot along the way and develop your skills by adding to your personal deck of cards which give you actions or items during your turn. Beware as some cards come at a cost either when you acquire them or when they're played, so choose carefully. Finally, once the first adventurer makes it out of the castle, all others are on the clock to get out before the dragon kills everyone still inside.

The setup does take a few minutes, so I recommend additional small plastic zip-lock bags to keep yourself organized with all the cardboard punch outs.
