Easily one of the best-known games of the century, Monopoly should be in every household as a staple for every family game night. Claim your favorite player piece and take over the city one property at a time. This game has encouraged a lot of creativity in finding deals, trades, and allegiances with other players. Acquire properties and make money off of players who land on them, while avoiding rent, taxes, and of course...jail. Alas, there can only be one winner at the end. Monopoly provides hours of fun and is a family favorite.

While this version may not feel exactly like the original you played back in the day (new tokens), it still holds up fairly well. Additionally, there are several versions of the game available with different themes from Pixar to Star Wars as well as junior versions.

This game is a staple and I will inevitably introduce it to my kids when they're a bit older, but it's certainly not my favorite board game. In my opinion, the game plays very slowly and gets quite frustrating when someone starts to run away with it. I have gotten quite mad on some occasions (never flipped the table though). I recommend including some house rules to spice things up such as allowing side deals to exist within the game, ie: avoid paying rent for three turns, but pay a fixed rate. You can get creative when playing, so you're only limited by your imagination. On the plus side, the game is simple and easy to learn, so you can get to playing immediately. Furthermore, it's actually a pretty good archetype for how business and exposes your kids to some life fundamentals.

Good luck and have fun!
